It is crucial to vaccinate you horses, to attempt to ensure the health of you mammal. An example of a possible side-effect could be slight swelling at the injection sight; this should clear up within a few days. Like humans, young horses, or foal, should be vaccinated after an appropriate amount of time after birth. For example, after three to four months of age should be around the time when foals should begin receiving vaccinations. However, not many know this, but people should make sure that they are all up to date on their tetanus shots and their own vaccinations as well, to attempt to ensure their health so they can care for their creatures. When people hear healthy horse, most instantly jump to thinking about temperatures and temperaments, etc. But horses are more complicated than that. To expand, a horses diet. There are so many different types of hay and grain available out there, that it is hard to know which one suits your animal! Such as barely, oaten chaff, sunflower seed, bran, etc. However, some horses also require different additives. For instance, molasses being a good source of energy, and electrolytes for their '"systems"; many of a horses systems can benefit from electrolytes. Another important health aspect is making sure that these mammals have access to good quality pasture along with always having access to water to keep these companions healthy. A healthy diet is not all that matters to a horses health. A horse should always, always, always have a clean place to sleep. So, having a clean stall will prevent the opportunity for parasites and other diseases to accumulate in their living quarters. One last fact, exercising ones horse will keep a horse in good shape, which will in turn assist them in living a longer and healthier life. Finally, keeping a horses' feet clean and in good conditions, will begin to ensure that a foreign object doesn't puncture their feet to make them come up lame. All in all, daily, routine laboring goes a long way to obtaining a healthy, happy horse.
